Eduardo Alvarez-Lopez, Spain, Erasmus student at the Journalism Department from October 2011 to May 2012
My favorite part of my Erasmus experience in Cluj was getting to know a different country and to meet different people, with another culture and point of view on life. I tried to learn Romanian language at the same time that I was improving my English. My friends still make fun of me when they say I went to Romania to learn English and „limba română”.
It’s a great opportunity to get to know another country and see how wrong you were with the conception and the perception of the country. The trips around Romania were also among my favorite experiences; during one year I discovered almost the whole country, but I still have some parts to discover, so I have to come back.
I decided to stay in Cluj for two semesters because I fell in love with the city, the country and the atmosphere. I felt that one semester was not enough, so I decided to prolong my stay.
I made really good friends from different countries and I learn a lot about their lives, about different cultures. Also, the teachers were nice to me. When I arrived to Romania I didn’t know to speak English or Romanian, so all of them were very kind and they tried to help me all the time. With the colleagues it was the same; I felt very comfortable during the classes, even if I was from another country. The staff of the University was also very helpful and kind and they made my stay here much easier.
